Muni map

story behind the reflection...

San Francisco's downtown Market Street is the major hub for public transportation in the city. There are bus lines and historic streetcars that run on street level, as well as an historic cable car turnaround at the Powell Station.
Underneath Market Street, there are two levels of subway lines.
  • The upper level features muni metro train lines (Muni metro light rail) that zip quickly through the downtown and nearby regions, then emerge above ground as they fork in multiple directions to the western and peripheral neighborhoods. (This picture is from within one of these trains, and features the routes)
  • The lower level features the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) trains, that are generally used for convenient travel into or from outside of the city. This is an good way to get to or from either of our nearby major airports (Oakland or South San Francisco).
